Idaho outfitters offer trail rides by the hour or day. Trail rides are available around resort areas near Coeur d'Alene, Sun Valley, McCall, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons. Riders also explore the mountains and canyons around Bogus Basin near Boise, the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, and the Snake River Birds of Prey Area. Many guest ranches and lodges have wranglers to guide guests on custom rides along "Wild and Scenic" rivers, into forests and meadows, and up to high mountain lakes.
Horses on these rides are well-trained. Wranglers are safety conscious and knowledgeable about their areas. Riders hear stories and learn history and see geography while enjoying some of the state's most beautiful views.
