The Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association is a statewide, nonprofit business trade organization representing licensed outfitters and guides throughout Idaho. Established in 1954 in Salmon, Idaho, IOGA in now in its 68th year of advocating for and defending the things most central to our industry needs and outdoor, recreational values: clean, free-flowing streams; quality fish and wildlife habitat and populations; reasonable rules and regulations; appropriate access, and; generally the conservation and enhancement of quality outdoor recreation experiences on Idaho’s lands and waters.

The Development & Events Manager is expected to be adaptable and driven, with a wide range of skills, a desire to help drive the organization forward, and the capacity to effectively prioritize and deliver on a diverse set of tasks and objectives—with demonstrable productivity and substantive results being an expectation. The Development & Events Manager is expected to be proactive, demonstrate initiative, identify opportunities and anticipate needs of the organization and the Executive Director. Finally, the Development & Events Manager is expected to consistently demonstrate their passion and commitment for the organization’s work.

The Development & Events Manager is expected to be based in the Boise, Idaho area.  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Development & Events Manager (“Manager”) provides strategic, administrative and logistical support to the Executive Director, in addition to clerical functions as needed for the day-to-day, ongoing operations of the Association.

The Manager’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

–       Development of membership and the services required, existing and new fundraising opportunities

–       Events, such as Annual Meeting, the Thaw fundraiser, Lobby Day, Chapter meetings and fundraisers 

–       Marketing, such as website ads, social media ads, sponsor spots  

–       Grants – Responsible for development and fulfillment of the ITC Grant and others 

–       Communications – Responsible for the writing and distribution of the IOGA newsletter and other communication with members and others. 

Executing on strategic objectives as identified by the Executive Director and Board, including but not limited to: marketing, fundraising and sponsor program(s) implementation and events; membership outreach/communication, development and recruitment.

Essential administrative functions (including but not limited to):

  • Booking-keeping, grant tracking and execution, chapter and committee coordination and support, meeting/event planning and execution, processing member renewals and updating information/databases, daily phone and email duties, scheduling, communications, and social media management support.
  • Working with relevant software and systems, including but not limited to office/ productivity applications (a baseline being applications such as Word/pages, Excel/Numbers, PowerPoint/Keynote, etc.), email/phone/communications systems, cloud based collaborative suites and project management software, social media platforms, and ideally, creative and design software.

Project planning and execution (including but not limited to):

  • Tracking of multiple prospects and ongoing projects; assisting the ED to meet fundraising/revenue and member development goals; marketing, advertising and sponsor program development and management.
  • Producing various types of reports and providing clear and concise presentations—and may be required to travel to make presentations to prospective members or sponsors, or to promulgate the organization’s message or execute on its agenda.

Compensation & Benefits 

  • This is a salaried position with bimonthly paychecks
  • 5-6 weeks paid time off with flexible work schedule.
  • 10 Federal paid holidays off
  • 24 – 30K base pay DOE plus additional 5-7 K for Grant administration

  • Final candidates (max 5) will be asked to submit a writing sample (information below), references will be contacted for final candidates at this time. 
  • After writing samples are received, the final candidates will have a second interview with Executive Director, Aaron Lieberman. 

Writing Sample: 

This role in IOGA will likely require significant writing and research so we are evaluating your ability to write and demonstrate an understanding of an issue. You are not being reviewed on your views of these controversial issues but rather your ability to demonstrate understanding of a complex topic and communicate in writing. Please respond to ONE of the following prompts.  Keep responses under 700 words.

•   What are the major areas of divergence between those who support and oppose the removal of the Lower Four Snake River Dams proposal?

•   What are the primary arguments for and against the testing for CWD in private elk and deer herds ?

•   What are the primary arguments for and against the use of electric chainsaws within Wilderness areas?

•   What are the arguments for and against the restrictions on Outfitted public use of public lands and rivers?

Writing samples are simply to verify each candidate has a basic skill set and assuming each candidate demonstrates the basic capacity required, it is assumed all candidates will go forward to the final stage, the interview with Executive Director, Aaron Lieberman.

Final Interview: Aaron will do final interviews with selection of a final candidate shortly after.
