Packing Big Game Meat out of state

UPDATED 8-21-26

Idaho Outfitters, if you have clients from out of state you need to pay attention to the laws of their state regarding how game can be brought in.  Last year Washington changed their laws and you should account for where your clients are going when you are choosing what to do in the field.

Help ensure your clients do not break laws in other states or have their game confiscated and destroyed when they get home.  Here is what you need to know based on where your clients might be going.

  • WA clients: De‑bone everything. cleaned skull/antlers (no soft tissue), a hide/cape with no head attached, and finished taxidermy are ok.

  • OR/CA/NV/MT/WY/UT clients: You may send quarters (no head/spine) or boned‑out meat.
